Former Jayhawk Reed can’t pass opportunity to give kids a jump on reading

He’s been at the top of the college basketball world. And recently he took a group of local pre-schoolers to new heights at story time.

Head Start of Shawnee Mission children last month got to enjoy a reading by Tyrel Reed, former University of Kansas basketball team player. Reed joined the little ones as part of “Kansas Reads to Preschoolers” week in November, a statewide initiative with the goal of having every Kansas child from birth to age 5 read to.

Reed, who played his senior season in 2011, is the winningest player in program history, with the team amassing a 132-17 record during his career.
