Lancers’ Rellihan, Stags’ Cozart, Ivey make all-metro football list

Connor Rellihan’s falling-backwards-out-of-bounds grab in the first half of the Lancers’ game against Olathe South was one of five TDs on the season.

SM East wide receiver, punter and defensive back Connor Rellihan on Tuesday was honored as part of the 30th annual Simone Memorial Awards highlighting the best high school football players in the Kansas City metro.

Rellihan was a nominee for the Otis Taylor Award, given to the area’s top tight end or wide receiver. Though the Taylor Award went to Park Hill South’s Craig Scott, Rellihan still received recognition on the All-Simone Team. Rellihan had 55 receptions for 797 yards during his senior season. He scored five touchdowns.

Bishop Miege quarterback Montel Cozart made the All-Simone Team as well – and for the second time in his high school career, a rarity. Miege junior linebacker Bradley Ivey made the list, too.
