St. Ann students honor relatives with armed forces experience for Veterans Day

Air Force veteran Richard Kerschen speaks to St. Ann students during the Veterans Day assembly.

Students from St. Ann Catholic School in Prairie Village on Friday held a special assembly honoring a special group of service men and women: their family members.

Students invited relatives who had served in the armed forces to an early Veterans Day service. In addition to recognition for the veterans, a Boy Scout troop presented the flag and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Students presented the history of Veterans Day, read President Barack Obama’s Veterans Day Proclamation, and performed Toby Keith’s “American Soldier.”

The St. Ann students also put together a photo display highlighting the service of their loved ones. That display will stay in the school’s breezeway through the end of the month.
