Education funding tops the bill at first-ever shawneemissionpost.com Candidate Forum

District 7 state senate candidates Kay Wolf (left) and Kyle Russell (right) answered questions from moderator Dan Blom, shawneemissionpost.com’s co-publisher.

We wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who helped us put on — and everyone who came out for — the first-ever shawneemissionpost.com Candidate Forum this Saturday.

Meridee Jordan and Village Presbyterian were incredible gracious hosts, and helped us arrange the perfect space for the event.

We had around 80 people come out to hear the discussion among the local state senate and house candidates — which, as you might imagine, focused significantly on education funding.

Mary Jo Draper at our sister site, MidtownKCPost.com, was kind enough to record the entirety of the forum. Speaking of which, we’ll be processing the video over the next several days, and hope to have snippets of it available to view in the not too distant future.

Thanks again to all of our partners in putting on the event and to the attendees!

The candidates for the District’s 19, 21 and 25 house races took the stage after the senate discussion had concluded.
