Listen, readers: I don’t want to freak you out, but Election Day is just around the corner.

And when you head into that voting booth on Nov. 6, the last thing you want is to be unprepared.

Never fear! shawneemissionpost.com has got you covered!

This Saturday, Oct. 20, we’ll be hosting the first-ever shawneemissionpost.com candidate forum. The very good people at Village Presbyterian, 6641 Mission Road, have allowed us to use Friendship Hall, which will open up (with FREE COFFEE!) at 8:30 a.m. The forums themselves start at 9 a.m.

We’ll be talking to candidates from State Senate District 7 and State Representative Districts 21, 25 and 19. If you have questions about the district you live in or the location of your polling place, information is available through the Johnson County Election Office site.

Here’s the schedule and the format we’ll be using.

State Senate
Forum begins at 9 a.m.
Opening statements – 3 minutes each
Question response time – 2 minutes each question
Followup time – 1 minute
Closing remarks – 2 minutes

State Representative
Forum begins at 10 a.m.
Opening statements – 3 minutes
Question response time – 2 minutes
Followup time – 1 minute
Closing remarks – 1 minute
