A filing with the Prairie Village planning commission has provided a first glimpse at what the first-ever STANDEES restaurant and theatre would look like when built at the Village Shops.
Renderings of the facility show a sleek exterior centered around a small tower near the entrance to the Village Shops courtyard. The facility would feature a dining patio on the east side, where patrons would be looking out onto the courtyard.
STANDEES proprietors are scheduled to present their proposal to the city’s Planning Commission Nov. 6. But prior to the Planning Commission meeting, STANDEES will be hosting a meeting for homeowners who live within 200 feet of the property to get their input and feedback on any potential concerns.
When construction is complete, the 200-seat restaurant, three-theatre combo will occupy 13,900 square feet. Most of the space was previously occupied by the Macy’s Home Store. The northwest corner of the space is presently occupied by Einstein Bros., which will be dislocated. Justin Kaufmann of property owner LANE4 said the company is working with Einstein Bros. on finding a suitable new space at the Village Shops, though nothing has been finalized. Einstein Bros. has not released a closing date for its current location.
