New daycare now running in abandoned Kol Ami building

At least one tenant has set up shop in the religious worship facility recently abandoned by Congregation Kol Ami.

Little Owly’s Nest for Knowledge Daycare and Preschool has been officially operating at the building at 7501 Belinder Ave. The business is run by Alison Ernzen, who has a master’s in education and counseling from Wichita State University. Ernzen is a Prairie Village resident. This is her first business venture.

Ernzen said she’s trying to create a unique experience for parents and kids alike.

“I didn’t want Little Owly’s to look or feel like your typical daycare,” Ernzen said. “It was important to me to create a ‘home away from home’ for the children in addition to finding the best teachers to work here.”

The daycare and preschool enrolls kids ages 6 weeks through 5 years. It can accommodate up to 45 kids. The center, which has five classrooms, is open 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
