Lancers soccer notches two more mercy rule victories, is 9-1 on season

SM East’s Noah Eidemiller contributed to the 10-0 mercy rule victory over Olathe North with a goal.

Brothers Bryce, Andrew and Derrick McClanahan notched a fraternal hat trick on the soccer field that made for a special birthday present for their mom, Mia.

Senior Bryce and junior Andrew scored their goals in the SM East varsity team’s 10-0 victory over Leavenworth on Tuesday, Sept. 25, while Derrick did his damage with the JV team. Bryce had two goals against the pioneers, as did junior striker Noah Eidemiller.

But the Lancers weren’t through employing the mercy rule for the week.

Two nights later, they took on league opponent Olathe North at the Olathe District Athletic Complex and, again, finished their opponent off 10-0. Senior Co-captain Tyler Rathbun led with three goals, brining his scoring total for the season to 13. That was his goal total from the entire 2011 season.

Seniors Carter Olander and Matt Terry had two goals each. Junior Noah Eidemiller, senior Thomas McGillicuddy and senior Bryce McClanahan also scored, goalkeepers G.J. Melia and Garrett Raible combining for the shutout.

The Lancers are now 9-1 on the season and 5-1 in the Sunflower League. They’ll face SM South Tuesday and Olathe Northwest Thursday.
