Indian Hills students hone gridiron skills in NFL Punt, Pass, Kick competition

Katie Aldrich lets the football fly in the annual Punt, Pass and Kick trials at Indian Hills. Watching her effort are Fallon Herrick, Celia Hack and Mazie Brooke.

Indian Hills students last week all had a chance to enter the NFL’s national Punt, Pass and Kick competition. Each of the gym classes of seventh and eighth graders took part, testing their skills in the three areas.

The longest yardage in each category will get to compete in the regional in Tonganoxie and those winners compete during a Chiefs’ game for a chance to move to the nationals.

More than three million students around the country participate in PPK competitions each year and the program has run since 1961. Locally, it is supported by the PTA.
