Hundreds of local kids will get a chance to show off what they can do in the pool after several weeks of swim practice starting today as both the Country Club Swim Association of Kansas City and the Johnson County Swim & Dive championships hit local pools.
The CCSAKC’s Bud Merritt Championships start at 8:15 a.m. at Kansas City Country Club with the always-festive opening ceremony parade. The event, which features swimmers from 10 private country clubs, runs through Friday.
The Prairie Village municipal pool will play host to the All-City Swim Championship starting at 5 p.m. Teams from eight cities — Prairie Village, Fairway, Merriam, Roeland Park, Shawnee, Lenexa, Olathe and Overland Park — will compete, with the event expected to draw more then 750 spectators.
The Prairie Village pool will be closed all day to allow staff to prepare for the meet.
