Mission Hills’ Bollier hits pool Wednesday with trip to London Olympics on the line

Suffice it to say, it’s been a busy month for Mission Hills native Bobby Bollier.

Bobby Bollier

On June 3, he wrapped up competition in the Santa Clara International Grand Prix, a final tune up before his bid to make the US Olympic team. Then it was back to school at Stanford University to take his senior finals. Two weeks later, Bollier picked up his mechanical engineering diploma as the school’s record-holder in the 200 meter butterfly. And on Saturday, he touched down in Omaha, Neb., for the US Olympic swim trials. Bollier will line up in the 200 meter butterfly heats tomorrow with two days between himself and a trip to London to represent the United States.

Bollier’s mother Barbara says despite everything he’s had going on, Bobby appears focused.

“It has been a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, with graduation taking place just this past weekend and then Olympic Trials following so close behind,” she said last week. “But I was able to watch him at practice last week and he looks like a man who wants to swim in London.”

We’ll keep you posted on his performance in tomorrow’s heats.
