Prairie Village Art Fair returns Friday — and with it, shawneemissionpost.com’s ‘Show us your art face!’ contest

Megan and Chris Cribb put on a strong showing for last year's contest.

Villagers: Stretch out those facial muscles.

Because the annual Prairie Village Art Fair returns Friday — and with it will come our uber-popular “Show Us Your Art Face” contest.

The fair kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Village Shops. Artists’ booths open at 5 p.m. The Michael Beers Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m. under the clocktower.

shawneemissionpost.com will have a table on the sidewalk outside Story restaurant and Jos. A. Banks, where we’ll post a truly breath-taking work of art. (Last year, it was a number I drummed up back in 2005. This year, it will likely be one of Olivia’s promising doodles). Here’s how the contest works. You come by the table. You look at the piece of “art” we have hanging there. And then you give us your best contemplative “art face,” and we’ll take your picture.

We’ll then gather all of the expression-filled photos together and put them through a painstaking, highly detailed and 100 percent subjective judging process to determine our winner — who will receive a $25 gift card to the Village Shops.

So come on by and say hello!
