Construction for early literacy program space at Corinth under way, will open in March

In two months, the Corinth Library will join 11 other county branches in offering the system’s 6 by 6 early childhood literacy program — and it will have a new space to do it in.

Construction is currently under way to create a new open area and to build learning stations specifically for the program, which encourages parents to focus on six literacy skills kids should acquire before the age of 6. The construction is being financed by the library foundation. The system intends to roll the program out at the Leawood branch by the end of 2012.

The library will hold an open house Thursday, March 1 to unveil the new 6 by 6 space to the public.
