SM East soccer team getting new home for practices at Indian Hills

Construction crews have dug up the old soccer field at Indian Hills, and are replacing it with a new, regulation-sized field for SM East practices.

SM East’s soccer teams won’t be able to use the fields at Mission Valley for much longer. But they also won’t have to travel far out of the way to practice once the new fields being constructed at Indian Hills are completed.

The Shawnee Mission School Board approved a construction contract for the new soccer field during its September 12 meeting, and work began shortly thereafter. The fields will be fenced in and built to regulation soccer size.

The softball field at Indian Hills that SM East had used for practices for many years is also being updated.

Both fields will be used for physical education classes and intramural programs at Indian Hills.
