Sale formally closes on Mission Valley; city and RED finalizing details of planning process

Share this story:

RED Development and the Shawnee Mission School District officially closed the sale of Mission Valley earlier this week, as the 45-day due diligence window that was part of the contract signed in July came to an end.

The real estate developer and the city of Prairie Village, however, are still working out the details of the planning process they will use to help determine a use for the site, said assistant city administrator Dennis Enslinger.

An initial schedule of focus groups and open community forms presented to the Prairie Village City Council Sept. 6 had the focus groups beginning Sept. 13, but the schedule has been delayed while the city and RED finalize an agreement.

Enslinger said the planning process will still include four invitation-only focus groups and two open forums.
