Prairie Village man’s love of dog treats and country music could pay off

Drew Fenton, singing his ode to dog treats.

A Prairie Village man’s love of country music — and dog treats — has him on a short list to meet country music star Trace Adkins.

Drew Fenton wrote a song for Waggin’ Train’s Tail Waggin’ Jingle Contest catchy enough to land him on the 20-person semi-finalist list. Based on nationwide voting open through Sept. 2, Waggin’ Train will name five finalists. The finalists will perform their jingles live for Adkins at a private event during CMA Awards Week in Nashville, Tenn.

Unfortunately they don’t let you link directly to individual entries, so you’ll have to do a bit of navigating to see Fenton in action. Go to the site, click “Vote Now” and scroll down to “Drew Six (Fenton)” — he’s the sixth entry in the right column.

And, just to get your tail waggin’, here’s a taste of Fenton’s canine composition:

“When you shake that bag, I wag my tail, we come uh runnin’ down the trail. Shake that bag, wag my tail, we come uh runnin’…” Classic stuff.
