House fire at 75th and El Monte causes $50,000 in damages

Fire, ambulance and police crews responded to a house fire north of the intersection of 75th Street and El Monte Saturday afternoon, rescuing two cats from the residence.

The homeowners were not present when the fire started, and there were no injuries, said Consolidated Fire District No. 2 Chief Gary Lamons. Fire crews determined the fire started in one bedroom of the house, but have not determined the cause. Lamons said the damage is estimated at $50,000.
