Having received approval from the Prairie Village Planning Commission earlier this month, Indian Hills administrators are planning how and when a series of extensive building renovations will be carried out.
A few of the smaller projects needed to accommodate Indian Hills’ larger student body after the closure of Mission Valley will be completed before the current school year begins. These include adding more computer lab space and student lockers,
The more complicated projects, like remodeling the school kitchen, building a new library and adding an auxiliary gym area, will be conducted over the course of the next two years.
Much of the construction will take place while the students are in class, but the district is working with the architect on a schedule of sequencing for the projects aimed at disturbing teachers and students as little as possible.
The projects are expected to go out to bid this fall with construction starting before the end of the year.
