Meadowbrook fireworks will return, but for members only

Share this story:

Meadowbrook Country Club’s annual fireworks display will be back in some form this year, but don’t count on being able to take much of it in unless you’re a member.

The club skipped its traditional semi-public display last year as it faced seemingly insurmountable financial issues. But after cutting a deal with real estate developer Camus Properties last August, the club is on more solid financial footing and able to put on a Fourth of July celebration again.

“We’ll be having a blowout party for our members on Friday,” said general manager Brandon Dougherty. “But we won’t be having a public display.”

UPDATED: Dougherty called us Thursday to clarify that the club’s fireworks display will be on Sunday, not during the party on Friday. In the past, members of the public had been allowed to bring blankets onto the golf course to set up a watch spot for the display. While the fireworks will be visible from the surrounding area, the course will only be open to club members.
