Lancers lose heartbreaker in extra inning, fail to advance to state title game

The Lancers baseball team showed resilience in their second round state tournament game this morning, but weren’t able to hold of undefeated Maize in extra innings.

Brennan Burns pitched another five innings for the Lancers before state sporting rules required that he be pulled. The Lancers came back to tie the game 6-6 after seven innings, but couldn’t hold off Maize in the eight. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the extra inning, pitcher Anthony Scott struck a batter, bringing home the winning run for Maize.

The Lancers will play again this evening in the consolation round.
