Indian Hills cyberbullying case attracts attention of KC media

The decision of Indian Hills seventh grader Desiree Pugh’s mother Janice Lewis to pull her daughter out of school after being subjected to prolonged cyberbullying has gotten the attention of local television stations.

Both KCTV 5 and NBC Action News ran pieces this week on the situation. Lewis said her daughter’s grades and self esteems have taken a serious hit since the bullying began last fall. Even after meetings with administrators, teachers and police, the bullying — which has taken place through text messaging and Facebook — hasn’t subsided, Lewis says. She wants to move Pugh to a different school.

Indian Hills says as many as 18 students have been involved in the bullying.
