McCrum Park water tower slated for removal

Share this story:

The water tower at McCrum Park will be removed by WaterOne.

WaterOne, the Johnson County water utility serving Prairie Village, is planning to begin removal of the water tower at McCrum Park this fall.

The tower was originally installed around 1950. It was in operation until a few months ago, when the tank was drained and the tower was put out of commission. The removal of the tank should not affect water service to the area.

WaterOne is currently seeking out a contractor for the job, but projects that 69th Terrace will be closed to through traffic during parts of the process to allow a crane to operate safely. The process will include the removal of the fence and trees surrounding the tower, as well as the upper part of the foundation.
