Prairie Village Mayor Ron Shaffer held a meeting at his Homestead Drive home Sunday afternoon to organize his reelection campaign with approximately 20 supporters.

Former Prairie Village City Councilwoman and current Johnson County Parks and Recreation Commissioner Nancy Wallerstein will be Shaffer’s campaign manager. Current City Council President Charles Clark is serving as treasurer.

Shaffer told his supporters he would be running on his years of service and steady leadership.

“We’ve been out talking to a lot of people in the city, and we’re hearing a lot of support,” Shaffer told the group. “Our big challenge is making sure people get out and vote.”

Wallerstein told shawneemissionpost.com she sees Shaffer’s experience and deep ties in the area as an asset to the office.

“I’ve known Ron for over 20 years, and served with him on council and supported him during his time as mayor,” she said. “He’s active not only in the PV community and Johnson County, but throughout the whole metro area. He brings experience, proven leadership and a regional expertise to the position. He is truly a pillar of the community.”

Shaffer’s campaign will be launching a Web site and rolling out yard signs in the coming weeks, he said.
