Haught Style in the Village Shops to close

Another local business looks to be the victim of the down economy.

Haught Style, the clothing boutique on Tomahawk Road in the Village Shops, will close its doors for good Saturday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. The store will be offering its inventory at increasingly discounted prices as its closing date nears.

A sign in the window tells customers, “We’ve had fun playing dress up with you the past few years. Here’s to looking fabulous…”

Owner Laura Haught opened the boutique four years ago after having spent three years working in finance. Haught says on the store’s Web site that her vision for the boutique was to offer an alternative to fashion trends that focused on “sexy.” “I wanted to bring women a new focus – classy,” she said.

Haught Style is the second business in the Village Shops to announce its closure this winter. Curious Sofa closed in January after announcing in December it would operate online only.

This winter has also seen the announcement that two new restaurants will be coming to the shops. Tavern in the Village and Story are both set to open this spring.
