Lancer journalists bring home more honors

This November, SM East newspaper students took home a serious haul of awards, including a Pacemaker, high school newspaper journalism’s highest honor.

And the accolades keep rolling in.

In January, SM East students took home eight of the 101 awards given nationally in the 2010 Quill and Scroll Yearbook Excellence Contest’s large school category. Shawnee Mission fared well overall, with district high schools taking more than a third of all the awards given in their categories.

The SM East yearbook, The Hauberk, was also recently given All-Kansas Yearbook status for 2010 by the Kansas Scholastic Press Association. Only 20 schools in the state, and just five 6A schools, were given the honor.
