PV sending sidewalk shoveling reminders to high foot traffic areas

Icy sidewalks pose a danger to pedestrians.

If you live in a high pedetrian traffic area of Prairie Village, you may be getting a friendly reminder soon from the city to keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice.

Property Codes Officer Marcia Gradinger will be sending out a reminder letter to residents who live along 75th Street, Mission Road and a few other areas in hopes that more homeowners will comply with the city’s sidewalk clearing ordinance.

“I do realize that not everyone is physically able to shovel, but we would like to get those who can to do so,” Gradinger said. “I have seen far too many people, including school children, walking in busy streets because the sidewalks were not useable.”
