Fairway City Council
In Fairway, half of the city’s eight city council seats are up for election. City council members serve four year terms.
Incumbents Jim Poplinger, Ward 1, and Gail Gregory, Ward 2, have filed and don’t have any challengers to date.
In Ward 3, incumbent Anthony Liu has filed, and will be challenged by Bobby Vickers, Jr.
As of yet, no one, including incumbent Stuart Hoffman, has filed for the Ward 4 seat.
Mission Hill City Council
In Mission Hills, three city council seats are up for election, and four candidates have filed. The top three vote getters in April’s election will take the at-large seats for four year terms.
The candidates so far are: incumbent David Dickey, incumbent Lisa Creighton Hendricks, Edward Curry and Dan Sullivan.
Prairie Village Mayor
Incumbent Ron Shaffer filed to run for his fourth term earlier this month. To date, no one has filed to challenge Shaffer.
Shawnee Mission School Board
Four of the board’s seven positions are up for election, though the seat occupied by the SM East representative, Donna Bysfield, won’t be on the ballot for another two years.
Former Fairway Mayor John St. Clair, Jr., is the only candidate filed for the at-large position currently occupied by Larry Winn, who is expected to retire at the end of his current term.
Perhaps of interest to some people in the area, board president Deb Zila is being challenged by Lani Kirsch for the SM South area representative’s seat.
And two candidates, Timothy Doerr and Sara Goodburn, have filed for the SM North representative’s seat being vacated by Susan Metsker. Metsker left the board to take a position with U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder’s office.
