There may be snow on the ground. It may be 20 degrees outside. But soon enough it will be time for pitchers and catchers to report to Major League spring training — which means it’s not too early to start thinking about spring sports around here as well.
Prairie Village is encouraging little league baseball and soccer coaches to get their reservation forms in for spring practices at city parks. The city will give priority to awarding practice space to teams that are made up mostly or in whole of Prairie Village kids.
Baseball coaches can reserve a maximum of two one-and-a-half hour practices per week. Teams made up of kids 12 and under can reserve space at Porter Park. Teams of kids 12 and over can reserve space at Windsor and Franklin parks. Soccer teams of any age can reserve space at Franklin, Port and Meadowlake Parks.
There is an $80 filing fee per team for field reservations. For more information and to download a reservation form, visit the Prairie Village field reservation Web site.
