Johnson County officials bust suspected pot growing operation in Prairie Village

Tyler Frick

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department this week served a search warrant at a home on 71st Terrace in Prairie Village and found both processed marijuana and 45 live marijuana plants, according to KCTV 5.

The home’s owner, Tyler Frick, was arrested on felony drug cultivation charges and booked in Johnson County jail before being released Friday on a $5,000 bond.

Lt. Shaine Pennington of the Johnson County sheriff’s department told KCTV 5 law enforcement had been tipped off that something suspicious might be taking place at the home, and sought out a search warrant as a result. He said law enforcement officers encountered a strong odor of marijuana when they visited the home.

Frick has a no-go preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 20.
