It took 2010 SM East graduate Janna Graf a few weeks to get onto the Yale University basketball court, but once she did, good things started to happen.
Graf missed the first three games of the season with mononucleosis, but came up big for the Yale Bulldogs in their Dec. 18 game against No. 14 Florida State. Graf’s 22 points helped propel the Bulldogs to a 91-85 victory, their first-ever win against a nationally ranked opponent. She was the first Yale freshman to score more than 20 points in almost two years. Two days later, she scored 11 and brought down nine rebounds in the Bulldogs’ win over Quinnipiac University.
The standout performances landed her the honor of Ivy League Rookie of the Week. And the Bulldogs have certainly got to be hoping Graf’s high-level play continues – they’re just 3-7 on the season.
