Shawnee Mission superintendent Gene Johnson the night he proposed the closure of Mission Valley.

So we’re asking our readers what they think the biggest story of the year was. Was it the Shawnee Mission School District’s prolonged debate over and eventual vote on the closing of Mission Valley? Was it the rash of burglaries that have hit Prairie Village? Was it the best-in-school-history 2010 Lancers football season? Or was it the Prairie Village city council’s vote to approve a one percent sales tax increase at the Village Shops and Corinth Square to fund major renovations there?
