Officers from the Prairie Village police department joined other Johnson County law enforcement officials in an anti-prostitution sting that yielded 39 arrests.
The operation, which occurred Nov. 30 through Dec. 3, was conducted in Merriam, Shawnee and DeSoto. In addition to arrests for prostitution, officers also made two arrests for drug charges and seized more than $4,800. Officers from the Overland Park, Shawnee and Merriam police departments participated as well.
“Prostitution is not a crime we think of as occurring in Johnson County, but with the number of arrests made it is very evident that it is here,” Johnson County sheriff Frank Denning said in a press release. “We will continue to assist in joint endeavors such as this, in order to curtail this type of activity in our community.”
