Prairie Village confirms new director of public works

Mayor Ron Shaffer administers the oath of office to new public works director Bruce McNabb.

The Prairie Village city council voted unanimously Monday to confirm Bruce McNabb as the new director of public works.

Bruce McNabb

McNabb comes to Prairie Village from Polk County, Fla., where he served as the county public works director for four years. He’ll fill the spot that had been occupied by Bob Pryzby for 15 years before he retired at the beginning of this year. Keith Bredehoeft, who had been the city’s project manager under Pryzby, had served as interim director prior to McNabb’s confirmation.

“I have just been terribly impressed by the city of Prairie Village,” McNabb told the council. “I’ve had the opportunity to work and live in a number of cities throughout the country — from the East Coast to the Midwest to Florida — and it’s very clear to me that Prairie Village is an outstanding organization.”

McNabb is moving here from Lakeland, Fla.
