Babick working like an elf to get holiday display ready

Mike Babick says it will take some long days of work, but his popular — and sometimes controversial — holiday lighting display should be ready for a Thanksgiving night debut.

Babick is presently laying the wiring that powers the dozens of animatronic animals and elves in his display.

“This part takes a long time, but once the wiring is down, it goes pretty quickly from there,” he said. “We’ll be out working some late nights to get it ready, but it will be ready.”

Babick will be unveiling three new items this year: a case featuring a train scene; a chalet-shaped display with moving elves and reindeer; and a small display just underneath the Santa’s Workshop scene he puts in his garage.

These cases on the south edge of Babick's lawn will hold two new scenes.
