The Lancers didn’t fare well in the luck of the draw, but we somehow doubt it will suppress their drive to win in Friday’s playoff game.

Because Olathe East, Olathe North, and SM East all finished the season at 7-1, the Sunflower League drew names out of a hat to determine playoff seeding. The Lancers drew the third seed, meaning they’ll face the 6-3 Olathe South Falcons instead of 5-4 Lawrence Free State, who they defeated earlier in the year.

The Falcons lost their first two games of the season to Olathe North and Lawrence Free State before ticking off six wins in a row. They did lose their regular season closer last week to Olathe East, however, and survived a scare to 1-8 Blue Valley West on Oct. 22, squeaking out a 31-30 win.

The game starts at 7 p.m. at Shawnee Mission North stadium.
