Family of Fontana St. survivor holds fundraiser for medical bills today

Marti Hill

The family of Marti Hill, the 44-year-old Prairie Village resident who was attacked and left for dead at her Fontana Street home Sept. 9, is holding a fundraising event today to help pay for the medical bills Hill amassed after the attack.

Hill had been taking kickboxing classes for self-defense at TMA Fitness in Overland Park for a year before the incident. She told her family that without the classes, she likely wouldn’t have survived.

To help raise awareness of self defense, TMA will be offering free kickboxing classes from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (though the morning classes are full). Participants are encouraged to donate money to help Hill cover her medical bills and make up for lost wages. Hill is a single mother.
