Memorial to Brian Euston springs up in Westport

Share this story:

A makeshift memorial to Brian Euston, the 24-year-old son of the family that has run Euston Harware for two generations, has popped up at the intersection of Mill Street and Westport Road in Westport.

The memorial is near the spot where Euston, who died Tuesday after two days in the hospital, was found lying with severe injuries early Sunday morning. No details have emerged about the incident that led to Euston’s injuries. According to police, surveillance camera footage from Westport doesn’t reveal what happened to Euston.

Brian’s parents, who now run the family hardware business started by his grandfather, live in Brookside just east of Ward Parkway. Ken Euston started Euston Hardware in 1971. There are Euston locations at the Village Shops and in Waldo, and the family runs Pack’s Hardware in Smithville, Mo. Brian graduated from Rockhurst high school and attended Oklahoma State University.
