Arrest made in Fontana Street attack

The Johnson County District Attorney’s office this afternoon announced that they had arrested Brian K. Pennington on a charge of attempted first degree murder for the attack of a 44-year-old woman on Fontana Street last Thursday. Here’s the press release:

As a result of an investigation by the Prairie Village Police Department, the Johnson County, Kansas Crime Lab, the Missouri Highway Patrol, and the Johnson County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office, Brian K. Pennington (2/14/1984) has been arrested and charged following an incident which occurred on September 8, 2010, at 6806 Fontana in Prairie Village, Kansas.

Brian K. Pennington has been charged in Johnson County District Court case number 10CR2221 with attempted first degree murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bond. He is currently being held in the Benton County, Missouri jail awaiting extradition to Johnson County, Kansas. Pennington should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Prairie Village Police Department said it was hoping to release additional details about the investigation and arrest later this week.
