SM East leads district with average of 25.3 on ACT

Shawnee Mission East upperclassmen getting settled back into classes this week after the summer vacation have something to aspire to: figures release by the Shawnee Mission School District today show that East students who took the American College Test (ACT) last year led the district with an average of a 25.3 composite score.

The district average was 24.1, higher than the state average of 22 and the national average of 21. A perfect score on the test is 36.

Shawnee Mission South scored the second highest composite with 24.6. The other district high schools scored as follows: Northwest, 24.3; North, 22.8; and West, 22.7.

This year’s score is .2 higher than last year, when East led all high schools in the Shawnee Mission, Olathe and Blue Valley districts with an average composite score of 25.1.
