District 20 Kansas House candidate profiles: Clayton and…just Clayton

To continue our look at some of the candidates who will be on primary ballots next Tuesday, we’d planned on introducing you to the two Republicans seeking the nomination for the District 20 seat in the state House. But after calling and sending multiple emails, we never heard back from Rob Bruchman. (Obviously at this point it would be totally unfair to speculate that this might serve as a reflection on how responsive he would be to constituent needs if elected…) So, we’ll just introduce you to Stephanie Sawyer Clayton, Bruchman’s competitor:

Why vote for me: As the Moderate Republican in this race, my objective is to fight for local control of public school dollars, a removal of burdensome regulations on our businesses, and increased local control for Johnson County infastructure. Overland Park was recently ranked number seven in Money Magazine’s best places to live, and I intend to help keep that high ranking by keeping state government from imposing unfunded mandates on our County and City governments.

I did not move here solely to begin a political career. I chose to buy a home and raise my family here because of the good schools and low crime. I believe that when one serves as a representative, it is a call to service to one’s community, not a spot to fill on a resume.
