Work on a series of major improvements at Franklin Park has closed the park off to the public for the summer, but city officials say they are excited about the new features that will be unveiled this fall.

The renovations will include the addition of a permanent shelter that can be rented out for parties, the installation of an 8′ wide asphalt running trail to replace the existing 4′ concrete one, and the construction of a “play stream” for children in the area just north of the existing jungle-gym equipment.
