Shawnee Mission East Student Activity Advisory Council delivers toys and gift cards to Hope House. Thirty-five Shawnee Mission East students representing many of the school’s sports teams and extracurricular activities collected toys and other gifts including $750 worth of gift cards and delivered them to the Hope House Women’s Shelter Tuesday. The boy’s swim team was credited with collecting many of the donated gift cards.

Mission moves this morning’s Pearl Harbor memorial event indoors because of cold weather. The Mission memorial service today in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day has been relocated to the Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center. It will be held from 11:30 a.m. to noon. All are welcome.

Housing assistance programs help many home owners in Northeast Johnson County. The Kansas City Star reports many residents benefit from programs that help fund minor home repairs.

The Stiles Gallery is exhibiting the works of Bob Walkenhorst, the former lead singer and songwriter for the rock group The Rainmakers, through December.
