Hattie’s Coffee, a mainstay at Corinth Square since 1999, closed earlier this month for remodeling and is expected to reopen by late September.

Owners David and Gretchen Copeland, who purchased the business in 2010, say the new overhaul will make their shop more customer friendly while allowing them to expand their breakfast and lunch menu.

“What we want to do is make the customer experience smoother,” Gretchen said. “For example, our espresso machine will face customers so we can chat with people.”

Besides relocating the espresso machine, the coffee shop will get a second bathroom and more work space to make specialty coffee brews such as “pour overs” and “aeropress.”

The capacity will remain about the same, 20 to 25 seats. But with the addition of a patio last April, Hattie’s has noticed an uptick in activity as people enjoy the outdoor space.
