John W. Palmer, 54, died August 19, 2016, a day before his 55th birthday.

Palmer was a strong man and beautiful soul who was very loving and generous with a strong love for God. He loved being a father and grandfather and he was a wondrous husband. He enjoyed camping and going on walks through nature.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Jean Palmer and his aunt Marion Ruth Mullenax Johnston. He was survived by six immediate family members: his wife, Cathy Palmer, daughter, Catherine M Campbell, son by marriage, Shawn Campbell and their children Lilian Abigail Campbell, 9, and Nicholas Michael Campbell, 3, and his son, Ryan K Smith.

He was survived by his cousins who were really more like sisters and brothers; John Lee Mullenax and his 19 family members, Jeffrey Wayne Mullenax and his 7 family members, Marilyn Ann Welch and her 9 family members, Donna Jean Taylor and her 14 family members, David Lynn Mullenax, Janelle Ruth Kristian and her 17 family members, Stephen Heap and David Smith.

Although we know he is with God in a better place, he will be sorely missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Westside Church of the Nazarene, 1700 W. Santa Fe, Olathe, KS. Fellowship from 7-8 pm. His family requests that instead of sending flowers, offerings be made in the form of donations to cancer research and the City Union Mission. These are two causes that were very important to John.
