A Kansas City favorite will be the featured performer at this year’s sixth annual Prairie Village Jazz Festival in September.

Cabaret singer Marilyn Maye will return to the Harmon Park stage as this year’s headliner on Saturday, Sept. 10. This won’t be Maye’s first appearance in Prairie Village. She was one of the two headliners at the 2013 festival.

Maye will be preceded by three professional groups and two school performance groups.

Saxophonist Dan Thomas and his band Voyage will take the set before Maye. Sons of Brazil, which played at the festival back in 2010, and Chris Hazelton and the Boogaloo 7 will take the evening sets.

The festival will start at 3 p.m. with a set from SM East’s award-winning Blue Knights jazz band. They will be followed by the Kansas City Community College Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Admission to the festival will be $5 for adults. Children 18 and under are free.
