New Jersey Governor and possible presidential candidate Chris Christie made a stop in northeast Johnson County yesterday for a private fundraiser appearance with Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback. The invitation for the joint “private roundtable” hosted at the home of two Mission Hills doctors suggested a minimum donation of $25,000 to the Republican Governors Association, of which Christie is chair.
Christie is the second politician with a national profile to make an appearance in Kansas with Brownback as he seeks a second term. In July, former Pennsylvania Senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum visited Olathe to campaign for Brownback.
Do you think the support of politicians with national profiles like Santorum and Christie will improve Brownback’s chances for re-election? Do you agree with Christie’s assessment Wednesday that voters would ultimately come around to re-elect Brownback because he is a governor who “is willing to stand up and make the hard choices”?
