Real estate rankings site Movoto this week released its rankings of the safest places in Kansas, and Prairie Village topped the list.
The rankings looked at cities with more than 10,000 people and then compared their crime data, breaking crime into four categories: murders, violent crimes, property crimes and overall crime. Noting that Prairie Village had extraordinarily low violent crime rates, Movoto’s editors said it was “head and shoulders” above the other cities it examined. Here’s the full write up on PV:
Though it’s one of our smaller places, and the only village in our top safest places, Prairie Village was head and shoulders safer above the rest.
This place ranked safest in both murders, of which it had none, and violent crime as well for 2012. It even ranked second in property crime, ranking it second in total crime overall.
Really, there were few crimes of any sort here. Nearly no rapes, robberies, or assaults per 100,000 in 2012, and one of the lowest vehicle theft numbers on our list, keep this place firmly at No. 1.
For anyone still not convinced, locals here had a mere 1 in 391 chance of being the victim of a crime. There’s no two ways about it, Prairie Village is incredibly safe.
