The “Bacon, Blues and Brews Fest” on Oct. 11 could be the final fundraiser for the construction of a walking trail in Roeland Park’s R Park.
The citizens committee raising money for park improvements hopes that the October event will bring in enough money to construct the trail this fall if its dollars are matched by a grand from the Sunflower Foundation. Fundraising so far has exceeded the goals the committee has set.
The “Bacon, Blues and Brews” event will be held at the Roeland Park Community Center from 7 to 9 p.m. It will feature tastes of dozens of foods with bacon as an ingredient, tastes of Cinder Block Brewery beers, root beer and Roasterie coffee. Blues singer Toni Gates with Tom Ransom on guitar will provide the music for the eventing and an R Park Marketplace will feature R Park products and gift certificates from local businesses.
Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased online. Tickets will not be available at the door that evening and the number of tickets is limited. More information is available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
