Want to get in on some free money? All it takes is a trip to Mission’s Johnson Drive. That’s where you can enter a drawing every week (multiple times per week) to get $100 worth of Shop: Mission dollars.
Concerned that the extensive renovation of Johnson Drive will hurt the bottom line at its local businesses, the city has been looking for ways to drive customers back to the construction zone. From new signage and branding to encouraging lunch groups, the city has worked on ideas to keep the customers coming while traffic and parking are disrupted.
Mission: Shop Local is the newest wrinkle in the city’s effort to help out. Starting this week customers visiting 21 participating Johnson Drive – and nearby – businesses can enter a drawing for the Shop: Misson dollars. Boxes are located in each of the businesses and customers can fill out a drawing slip – no purchase necessary – when they visit the business. Each Friday from now through August, the city will collect the boxes and draw one name. The weekly winner will get $100 in $10 shopping certificates to be used at any of the participating businesses. Then the city will reimburse the businesses for certificates that customers spend with them.
No change is given for the $10 certificates if the purchase price is less than $10. The Shop: Mission dollars must be spent by Dec. 31.
A full list of the participating businesses can be found here. New businesses may be added as the drawing continues over the summer. The first winner will be drawn this Friday.
