New candidates have entered the race for state representative seats in northeast Johnson County and each of the districts will have a contest in the fall election. Incumbents Barbara Bollier and Stephanie Clayton also will have Republican challengers in the primary. Incumbent Melissa Rooker did not draw a primary opponent as she had anticipated.
Republican incumbent Stephanie Clayton in District 19 will be challenged in the primary by Jennifer Flood of Overland Park. A Democrat, Patricia Stratton of Prairie Village, will meet the winner of the Republican primary in November.
In District 21, incumbent Barbara Bollier already was being challenged in the primary by Republican Neil Melton. Amy Bell, a Democrat from Prairie Village who ran against Bollier two years ago, has filed again for the seat.
Though Republican Rooker did not get a primary challenge, she will face Democrat Jennifer Robinson in November. Filing for state office closed at noon today.
